Arcade Restaurant Brand Development and Website Design

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

When people think about Memphis, they think about Elvis. And when people think about Elvis’s favorite restaurant, they think The Arcade Restaurant. The world-famous restaurant is the oldest diner in Memphis and is known as one of Elvis’s favorite spots—there is even “Elvis’s booth” inside!

As The Arcade Restaurant neared its 100th anniversary, they enlisted LAB Digital Creative, a Memphis-based web design and marketing firm, to help freshen up the logo and build a “retro meets modern” website.

With The Arcade’s long-standing history as a fourth-generation family-owned establishment, LAB wanted to retain the nostalgia of the brand while freshening it up a bit as well as creating consistency across all of The Arcade’s platforms including print, digital and social.

First on the agenda was giving new life to the recognizable neon Arcade sign at the corner of G.E. Patterson and Main Street. in Memphis. Once a new logo was designed and approved, LAB went to work on serving up new menu designs and interior and exterior signage to match the new branding—LAB went as far as to create a custom Snapchat filter for The Arcade’s 100th anniversary party.

Using a delicate balance of retro mixed with modern, LAB created a streamlined website design that speaks to The Arcade’s history as well as gives it a freshness as it enters its second century in business.

Throughout the branding refresh and website revamp, no detail was spared. LAB utilized custom elements of The Arcade’s interior such as its boomerang decorations that have hovered over their diner tables for more than 50 years to help create the feel of being inside the restaurant while surfing the website. A custom-tailored menu navigation with filters and a unique history page completed the design of the new website layout.

LAB also wanted to ensure that it was easy for customers to view the menu online as well as make a reservation, book and event, order online delivery through DoorDash as well as shop The Arcade merchandise online. Custom buttons on the mobile website allow customers to easily get in touch and find directions, since most of The Arcade’s business is comprised of tourists.

“LAB Digital helped redesign our business website while maintaining our look and feel that has spanned over 100 years. They also helped touch up an iconic logo with a modern day brand presence. Their skilled team met with us and walked us through the process from beginning to end. Highly recommend.”
